Diversity enriches us
The fabric of Tree of Life is woven together with first generation families from 33 countries, representing over 175 churches, a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, and a minority student population of 46 percent. We celebrate this rich diversity daily. What a great opportunity we have had as a Christian body to promote unity in the midst of a divisive year.
We launched a new Kingdom Diversity Council made up of parents, alumni, and staff members. Our keynote speaker for this past year’s annual Evergreen Event was Dr. Bernice King, who shared about the legacy of her father and the continuing work towards racial reconciliation. Students participated in a panel this past summer with the former Secretary of Education Besty DeVos, as they shared what EdChoice and educational options for low income families means to many in our community. Teachers have spent time during in-service professional development days to dig deep into how this unique fabric of diversity plays out in the classroom, the hallways, and the essence of what makes us Tree of Life.
ACSI recognizes Tree as a role model for other Christian schools around the country, who have also recognized a need to integrate Biblical diversity.
